Downtown Pittsburgh
Danielle, Emery, and Jae
These are the first buildings we saw upon entering the city including the K&L Gates Center, PPG Place, and the Highmark building as well as a few churches and other skyscrapers. These can be seen on Sixth Street in downtown.
Point State Park
Point State Park is where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet and form the Ohio River. It is a very historical landmark in Pittsburgh as it is the site of Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne, which were focal points in the French-Indian War, during which Pittsburgh was a major battlefield.
We found a large compass in the middle of the green space at Point Place Park which commemorates Fort Pitt.
PPG Place
PPG Place is located near Market Square. It is described by some as "The Crown Jewel of Pittsburgh's Skyline" because it resembles an shimmering castle figure when seen in the skyline. PPG Place features shopping, dining, office spaces, Wintergarden, and and ice-rink.
"A Turn of the Century" by Seward Johnson, located in the plaza of PPG place
Market Square
Market Square was designated by the city of Pittsburgh as its very first historical district in 1972. It has a very diverse range of attractions. There are numerous places to dine and shop as well as other venues such as salons, a pilates studio, and office spaces. When we visited, we saw street performers and experienced a lot of diversity.
